How to Deposit USDT on OKX: On-Chain & P2P (2026)

Last updated: June 2026 · By the bsvar editorial team

Once you're signed up and verified, it's time to add funds. OKX has two common routes: deposit USDT on-chain (if you already hold crypto), or buy USDT with cash via P2P (easiest for beginners). Not set up yet? See Sign Up and KYC.

⚠️ Risk warning: On-chain transfers are irreversible — the wrong coin or chain can mean permanent loss. Operational tutorial, not investment advice. See our Disclaimer.

Two ways to add funds

Two ways to fund OKX: deposit USDT on-chain, or buy USDT via P2P

If you don't hold any crypto yet, use P2P. If you already have USDT elsewhere, deposit it on-chain.

Option 1 — Deposit USDT on-chain

  1. Go to Assets → Deposit → USDT;
  2. Choose the chain (TRC20, ERC20…) — it must match the sender;
  3. Copy the deposit address (or scan the QR);
  4. Send from your wallet/other exchange and wait for confirmations.

⚠️ The #1 mistake: the coin and the chain must match. Send a small test amount before any large transfer.

Option 2 — Buy via P2P (beginner-friendly)

  1. Go to Buy Crypto → P2P;
  2. Choose USDT, an amount and a payment method;
  3. Pick a reputable merchant and pay as instructed;
  4. Funds release after the platform confirms payment.

Keep everything inside the platform — never move off-platform to pay.

After depositing

Move your USDT from Funding to Trading, and you're ready to buy. Full walkthrough: The Complete OKX Guide.

FAQ

Are there fees? On-chain deposits pay a network fee; P2P depends on the merchant's price. How long does it take? On-chain depends on the network; P2P is usually instant after release. Funds arrived but I can't buy? They're likely still in Funding — move them to Trading.

Next steps

Use a small test to eliminate three common errors

After copying the deposit address, verify the asset, network, and whether a memo/tag is required. Similar-looking addresses do not prove network compatibility. Send the smallest sensible test amount, keep the sending record and transaction hash, and check both deposit history and a block explorer if the required confirmations pass without credit.

For P2P, communicate only inside the platform order. The payer name should match the verified account; reject requests to cancel and trade privately. Never release assets or confirm receipt before the money is final. Fees, minimums, and confirmation requirements change, so use the values shown on the live deposit page.
